In 1964, 48 German fruit wholesalers teamed up to pool their purchasing interests and establish the purchasing association they named "Cobana". The biggest benefit of this strategy is still obvious over 40 years later: as a combine of independent enterprises, COBANA offers a comprehensive service concept that embraces all matters relating to consulting, procurement and supply - tailor-made for the needs of the most varied of client structures.

The nationwide banana supply network that was set up at the same time as Cobana back in 1964 - and, under the name of "Fruchtring", was expanded to include all other fruit and veg imported from overseas - is still an important element of our concept. As a network of medium-sized companies, COBANA still boasts an almost unique structure that works to the benefit of our customers. Thanks to the portfolio of services we have expanded continuously over the years, we are there where our clients are - as independent business units whose competencies, where necessary, are coordinated by the headquarters in Hamburg.
